Congratulations - you have come to the attention of the Black Sun
And as if by some sort of Force foolery, AMG have given us the information we were looking for on everyone's friendly neighborhood Black Sun Enforcers. With the upcoming Mercenary releases, we will run through what we now know about this new Corps unit. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Black Sun at all, here's a quick run down.
Black Sun is a criminal syndicate affiliated with the Shadow Collective (the crime group led my Maul). The Falleen are often seen as the principle species of the Black Sun. They have appeared in numerous comics, books and episodes of the TV shows The Clones Wars and Rebels as well as references in Star Wars Resistance. The Black Sun were known for their people (aliens too) trafficking across the galaxy and had operations throughout the Clones Wards, the Galactic Empire and the New Republic.
So what do we know about the unit in Legion?

As predicted in our last AMG Live stream round up article, the Black Sun Enforcers are close range heavy hitters. The base unit throws 1 black 1 white at Range 2 and 1 red in melee. As well as this, they have an arsenal of keywords to prepare them to hit hard when they get in range of an enemy unit. They have Independent: Aim 1 (again as predicted in our article), which gives them an Aim token at the start of the round if they don't have a face up order token issued to them. This coupled with Precise 1 means they can re-roll 3 dice. Dauntless ensures that the unit doesn't stop and can get where it needs to to throw those dice.
Their heavy weapon options are both short range hitters. The grenade slot option (at 14 points) throws 3 blacks at range 1 and gives the attack pool Blast and Impact 3. The scatter gun (at 28 points) throws 2 reds at Range 1-2 and adds Pierce 1 to the attack pool.
The two Personnel slot options are interesting and both add defensive potency to this red save unit. The standard enforcer gives the unit Cache: Dodge 1. We saw the Aim version of this on the Pyke Foot Soldier. It effectively gives you a dodge token to use at any point in the game (as long as you have at least 1 model left in the unit). The Black Sun Vigo Personnel upgrade adds Independent: Surge 1, doubling down the advantage of not giving out an order token to this unit. It also increases the base courage of the unit from 1 to 2.
So all in all, the combination of the Scatter Gun Enforcer and the Vigo gives a pretty hard hitting unit at Range 2. Throwing 2 red 5 black and 5 white they are likely to get 4 wounds in against red save units who are cowering in heavy cover. If you don't end up using the surge token from the Vigo in your attack, then using it in defense gives the Black Sun Enforcers that edge when sneaking up towards the enemy lines. Will this combination be taken at 94 points, only time will tell, but it sounds pretty expensive for a Corps unit that can only throw dice at a maximum of Range 2. We know they can only be taken with either the Shadow Collective Battle force or as a part of an Empire or CIS list, remembering that when taken in these 2 factions, they don't contribute towards the minimum 3 Corps unit count, so you will still need your B1 and Stormtroopers to be the backbone of the army.
They are very different to the Pyke Syndicate Foot Soldiers that we already know about. If you want to read out round up article of them, click here:
We know that the A-A5 Speeder truck is being made available outside of the Rebel Alliance (although we don't know where yet). Perhaps these could be the perfect transport partner for the A-A5 where they jump out and throw their dice on the table with an Aim and Surge token to bolster their roll.
They are still to reveal what the Vigo's unit card will look like if you want to take him as a standalone unit. With the Self-Preservation keyword on the Enforcer unit, you are likely to want something to limit the panic chances and so I would not be surprised to see the Vigo taken as common place either as a personnel upgrade or as a the standalone unit in a force which has the Black Sun Enforcers as one of their main threats.
They may also be taken as Fleet Trooper equivalents - hanging out near an objective waiting for the enemy to walk into their midst, with a Standby and an Aim to throw at them.
Targeting Scopes could be a popular Gear upgrade, to make even more use of that free aim by increasing the Precise value to 2 - something that can't be underestimated when white dice (that don't naturally surge) are being thrown.
Here's an interesting list for you to ponder over...2 waves of all in attacks. Wave 1 - the STAP Riders, Wave 2 - a hell of a lot of red, black and white dice at Range 2. Leave your comments below on what lists you can see the Black Sun Enforcers being taken in.
